  Believing in God - Challenge

  i invite king solomon and anyone else that is interested, to discuss if believing in god may be helpful.

  i am not restricting the discussion to the biblical god.

  i'm ready to look if this belief may be helpful both from a societal and from an individual point of view.

  iran cleric pummeled by badly covered woman after warning by ladane nasseri - sep 19, 2012 9:23 am ctan iranian cleric said he was beaten by a woman in the northern province of semnan after giving her a warning for being badly covered, the state-run mehr news agency reported.. hojatoleslam ali beheshti said he encountered the woman in the street while on his way to the mosque in the town of shahmirzad, and asked her to cover herself up, to which she replied you, cover your eyes, according to mehr.

  I was just as surprised as he was. However, I learned that standing up to a bully is the winning strategy.

  The above story of the Muslim cleric gettin' the crap taken out of him by the woman warmed my heart because I know how SHE felt.

  Terry, I also like to see justice in action. But, like CobaltCupcake, I hope the lady doesn't lose her head over this.

  As, for you, pushed someone up against a wall! In my head, it played like a CartOOn. Befuddled! You gave me a good laugh. Plus, you taught the bully a lesson I'm sure he has never forgotten!

  well, i finally got a chance to discuss religion with a jw at the door.

  i have been looking forward to it for a long time, now i know what questions to ask that will cause them to eat their reasoning book in panic.

  but no, there was no long in depth bible discussion.

  ok, so even if laws are to be written on people's hearts vs spelled out into lawbooks, there's going to have to be some laws in the new system of things, right?

  i say we get the ball rolling and brainstorm what they should be: after all, none of us got invited to the party anyway but since there just ain't going to be any party, why let that spoil our fun?

  so, the theme is laws to be in effect in the new system.

  Scotoma- Thank you for your clarification. I'm not sure right now if I agree or disagree with your take on "Self". I have to think about it a little while.

  I know I am generally open to the possibility that I may be wrong and I have changed my views many times.

  Fair enough. Then you are not rigid.

  My toilet reading is usually books on logic and critical thinking. Toilet reading because I can't take more than a page of that at a time.

  Do a search on the five factor model and openness to change. You will find evidence there.

  I was referring to the fact that organizations that try to get you to join their fraternal state use love/friendship more than argumentation and presentation of proof or evidence to get people to join. So if you are going to coax them away from that state you have to appear more loving than their group. But the problem is that along with the love bomb you are often simply offering them another more conventional and generally accepted lie.

  mrs. toth's dad fell and broke his elbow and is going in for surgery tomorrow.

  his heart is not so strong but they need to risk surgery to repair his elbow and put a metal rod in his upper arm otherwise things can get even worse they say.

  you can probably imagine that my wife is very upset by the situation and my hands are full trying to keep her calm.
